Valentine Izundu, a 6-foot-9 senior from Lamar Consolidated High School, has committed to Houston.

Izundu played junior varsity basketball for the past three years at Cypress Lakes.

A number of schools were considering Izundu including Texas, Marquette, Arkansas, Tulsa and SMU.

Houston earned commitments from Danuel House and Danrad 'Chicken' Knowles on Sunday.

House is the 15th ranked player in the class of 2012 and Knowles is 56.

"I choose Houston because Coach [James] Dickey made me think long and hard about staying home and playing in front of my family and friends," House said. " I feel that will be an honor and a privilege to do that. 

"I want to help bring back Houston basketball where it needs to be nationally," said House. 

"We want to bring success to the city of Houston again," Knowles said. " I picked Houston because I trust Coach Dickey and the coaching staff and they made me a priority. Everyone who I know and trust is here close to me."

Point guard LJ Rose has given a verbal commitment to Baylor University, according to his father.

“We decided after long deliberation that Baylor is the best fit for L.J. right now,” Lynden Rose said.  “I’ve known Scott Drew for 10 years. We’re comfortable (with Baylor) based on the Christian education and values.”

Rose is a top-100 recruit, who has also been considering Georgetown, Virginia and Houston.
